Why homeowners choose Domestra

Know before anyone knocks.

Most projects start with strangers touring your home and pitching a price. We flip that.

Photos, not strangers

Contractors work from your photos, so nobody has to walk through your home just to give you a number.

A price range first

See roughly what each contractor would charge, what’s included and what isn’t, before anyone contacts you.

You decide who calls

Choose the few you like. Only they get your details, and only if they accept. No cold calls, no pressure.

Photos, not a site visit

Everyday photos are enough.

You don’t need a designer or a perfect shot. A few phone photos of the space as it is today let a contractor picture the project and give you a realistic range.

How it works

Four calm steps, nothing rushed.

You stay in control from the first question to the final decision.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your project

Answer a few plain-English questions and add photos. No construction jargon, no exact measurements, and never your street address.

  2. 2

    Invite the contractors you like

See licensed, insured contractors who fit your project and invite up to five. Only the ones you invite can see your photos. Each sends a preliminary range: what’s included, what isn’t, and what could change it. They never see each other’s ranges.

  3. 3

    Compare the whole picture

Look past the price: license and insurance checks, experience and scope, side by side.

  4. 4

    Choose who contacts you

Ask the contractors whose ranges you like to contact you, up to five. Only the ones who accept get your name, email and phone. You’re never obligated to hire anyone.

Projects we’re built for

Roofing, windows, flooring, plumbing, HVAC, solar and more are coming soon. Want to know when?

For contractors

Are you a contractor?

Review projects with photos, send a preliminary range, and choose which introductions to accept. Every introduction is a homeowner who has already seen your range and chosen you.

Questions

Good things to ask first.

Is Domestra free for homeowners?

Yes. Describing your project, comparing ranges and asking contractors to contact you are all free for homeowners.

Am I committing to hire anyone?

No. Comparing ranges and asking a contractor to contact you creates no obligation. You decide who, if anyone, to hire.

What is a preliminary range?

A starting range from a contractor, based on the photos and details you shared. Final pricing can change once they confirm the scope and the conditions at your home, sometimes after a visit. Use the ranges to compare, not as a contract price.

Who sees my phone number and email?

Only the contractors you choose, and only if they accept your request. You don’t share your contact details while you’re comparing.

How will I know when a contractor responds?

Each range appears on your project page as it arrives, and the bell at the top of the page shows a red number whenever something is new.

What kinds of projects can I post?

Right now: kitchen and bathroom remodels, whole-home remodels, ADUs and guest houses, garage conversions and home additions. Roofing, windows, flooring, plumbing, HVAC, solar and more are coming. It isn’t the place for small repairs or handyman tasks.

Will someone still need to visit my home?

For a final price, usually yes. The ranges help you decide which contractors are worth a visit, so you only meet the ones you chose instead of inviting a stream of strangers through your home.

Where do you operate?

We’re starting in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. Enter your ZIP code when you begin and we’ll tell you if we’re in your neighborhood.

Does Domestra guarantee the work?

No. Domestra is a marketplace: we don’t perform, supervise or guarantee the work. We check each contractor’s license and insurance before they can respond, but you should always get a written contract and check references before you hire.
